Members Take Action

Our breakout actions have been very successful! Click here to see all the great news coverage we have gotten!

We want to thank all of our members who have stepped up to participate in our Human Services Campaign. This is the most important work we can do as a union, and your participation is absolutely vital.

We have had more members than ever attending chapter meetings, legislative events, and breakout actions.

If you have not yet joined our Get Active mailing list, please do so today - click on the button on the left. As we gear up for next year’s legislative session, we need to have as many email addresses as possible, so that we can keep you informed and you can make your voice heard by state legislators.

We cannot afford to sit back and wait for things to happen – we must step up and take charge!

Here are a few things we are asking members to do in the coming months.

·         It is important to let our neighbors know about the work our members do. In order to highlight some of the problems facing the people we serve, we are asking members to participate in some charitable activities in your area during the holiday season. This can include working in a soup kitchen, collecting for a food bank, a toy drive, or other activity that will help the needy in our communities.

Please contact your Chapter Chair about charitable activities in your area. Each Chapter will be asked to choose at least one activity for the holiday season, as we want members to participate together, representing SEIU Local 668.

Do something good to help your neighbors and, at the same time, let the public know about the people we serve and the challenges they face every day.

·         One of the important tools we used in the education of legislators during the past year was the Cost Savings Suggestions List that we compiled from our members’ ideas. Given the circumstances facing Pennsylvania for next year’s budget, finding ways for the state to save money will be even more critical next year.

So we are asking members to come up with some new ideas for saving tax dollars, whether by eliminating programs that don’t work or through operational efficiencies. Look around your workplace – how can money be saved? What other ideas do you have about things the Commonwealth can do to raise additional revenue without raising taxes?

Check out the Cost Savings Suggestions List – you’ll find a link to it on the top right of the Human Services Campaign page. Then put on your thinking caps and come up with some new ideas! Email us at seiu668@yahoo.com.
