CHAPTER 8

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 10, 2009 MEETING

 

I. CALL TO ORDER: Steve Jarrell, Chapter Chair called the meeting to order.

INTRODUCTIONS: Everyone present introduced themselves.

 

II. ATTENDANCE: Sign in sheet (see attached).

 

III. CORRECTION and/or APPROVAL OF THE LAST MONTH’S MINUTES AS MAILED.

 

MOTION: To approve last months minutes.

MOTION: Barbara Fellows SECOND: Lynette Taylor

All Ayes - APPROVED

 

IV. CHAPTER CHAIR REPORT: -- Steve Jarrell, Chapter Chair.

● Socks for SWEB – Please donate a bag of warm socks to help fill a veteran’s stocking.

● Tom Herman request – To contribute new toys for the Toys for Tots campaign. Drop off new toys at the union office.

 

● Human Services Campaign Plan: 2009-2010 continue to flat budget. Plan to get together on February 9 - Budget Task Force to plan; more to come. Motivate legislators to do their jobs!!

 

● Daniel to talk about COPE Campaign. Try to get access to more meetings, at more shops. Will stop by to do a shop meeting. We either fight back or take what they give us. We need money to fight.

 

● Republicans in NY are now the majority. They are proposing selling prisons, nursing homes! Steve will send out e-mails to set up shop meetings for COPE discussion.

 

V. TREASURER’S REPORT: -- by Richard Barron.

VIII. POLITICAL ISSUES UPDATE:

COPE: $11.00

 

IX. COMMITTEE REPORTS:

CAO Committee: Will meet with Joanne Grubber on November 19 to discuss incremental renewal phase IV B. Remodeling the Welfare computer system. Implementation by 8/2010, but will pilot now.

 

Barbara Fellows (report attached) - Central Labor Council will meet on 11/19/2009 to honor female heroines. Go to www.unionlabel.org to look for union made goods.

Call Congress because health care can’t wait. See attached petition. Listen to Rick Smith show at 9:30 a.m.

 

MOTION: To purchase a ticket for Barbara to go to Shero’s CLU dinner. Cost is $25.00

MOTION: Mike Donaldson SECOND: Lawrence Funck

PHRC – Any news regarding layoffs? Kathy Jellison has not received any notice; the governor is supposed to give a 30 day notice.
