RE: Meeting held on March 4, 2008 with COP
This is to update you on the meeting that was held on 3/4/2008 between the Department of Corrections and SEIU 668 PSSU:
The Treatment Specialist/Case Management Correctional Counselors’ duties were discussed. Both classifications are considered the same pay grade, however, the work responsibilities will vary based on the current job description. Overtime and furloughs will be equalized within the classification. The union proposed that Correctional Counselors interested can apply for whatever duties they are interested in doing and seniority will be considered based on experience. Since many employees have volunteered for these duties how we will progress from this point will be discussed with the DOC.
CEVC duties will be handled at each institution based on their need and available staff. However, if any member feels they are not being treated appropriately, they are to address it at the local level first through a meet and discuss. If satisfaction is not obtained, please inform your Correctional Committee representative. If your institution does not have a representative, please contact me @ 570-546-6503 or Velkoff @ prodigy.net.
Pay scale for counselors, DATS, PSA’s will be moving to select an arbitrator. Anyone that wants to testify or give information, contact Jim Young @ 800-368-0505.
Shift differential will be based on operational needs. However, most institutions are continuing the past practice. Retreat was the only institution trying to change this and the DOC was planning to address this matter.
This is to remind all stewards not to sign any side agreements without contacting your Business Agent. If there are any current side agreements existing, please contact Kathy Jellison so we are sure PSSU is aware of them.
This information will be posted on the PSSU website at www.seiu668.org.
