Children & Youth Committee Report

            Paul Gambill gave the committee a report from the Protect Our Children Committee (POCC) meeting of September 9th in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The POCC is a political action committee committed to elevating attention to and advocacy for child abuse prevention.  POCC Committee also responds and intervenes on behalf of children at risk of or already engaged in the child welfare system.  POCC is a place for networking as well as shared education with the opportunity for organizations to bring issues to the table to prevent child abuse, safety and accountability.  PSSU 668 has been a part of this advocacy group since 2003.  The Committee agreed to the dues payment to the organization in the amount of $500 for the year 2010.  Gary Sanderson, Chapter 9 will be the Committee’s liaison to POCC’s monthly meetings.

            In other Committee business Tammy Jo Rodgers (OCY Caseworker) will replace Mike Butler as Chapter 1 representative to the Committee.  Special thanks to Mike for his services and to Rick Adams for locating Tammy to serve on the Committee.

            The Next Committee meeting is December 4, 2009 in Harrisburg.
