Today, the Officers of SEIU Local 668 announced the appointment of Fran Nelms into the newly created position of Communications and Policy Liaison, effective January 15, 2018. In the position, Fran will work on Local communications and legislative / political matters; additionally, he will provide research support to our Organizing Department.
“We are excited to announce our recent appointment of Fran Nelms to this newly created position,” said Steve Catanese, President of SEIU Local 668. “Not only will Fran’s talents add much needed support to our Local’s communications and legislative operation, but it will also align our communications, legislative and organizing work more closely together, improving our ability to secure organizing wins.”
An Organizer with us since 2016, Fran comes into the new Department with a significant background in public policy research, politics, and worker rights advocacy. Born and raised in a union household in Northeast Philadelphia, Fran has always had a passion for worker rights. In addition to working for Congressman Brendan F. Boyle on both the state and federal levels, Fran worked in advocacy on a variety of issues including manufacturing worker rights, sexual assault funding and awareness, and homeless veterans support.
